Cody Lockhart
Rosthern-Shellbrook
Cody was born and raised in the Special Areas of southern Alberta. Graduating valedictorian from Youngstown School, Cody apprenticed as a carpenter and worked on drilling rigs in the oilpatch before pursuing post-secondary education in Saskatchewan and Alberta. He attended Briercrest College and Red Deer College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. As a student-athlete, he was a perennial Dean’s List and Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Academic All-Canadian recipient while playing volleyball. Cody then owned/operated a residential construction company in Red Deer, Alberta for several years before returning to his roots on the farm.
Cody moved his growing family to Debden, Saskatchewan in 2009 to ranch where the rain falls. As time has passed, the family run operation has grown to encompass mother cows/calves, yearlings, sheep, cropping and an endless menagerie of critters to keep the kids busy and his wife happy.
In past years, Cody held the position of director with the Canadian Lamb Co-operative and tenures as the Producer Member for the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association. He continues to volunteer in his local church and community and serves as a councillor for the Rural Municipality of Canwood. His passion for sport is now fulfilled coaching with the Prince Albert Toppers Volleyball Club as well as criss-crossing the province with his daughters for their various sporting and rodeo endeavors.
Cody and his wife of twenty years, Liesl are blessed to continue working with their three marvelous daughters to keep their diverse farming and ranching operation running smoothly from season to season. As a father, business owner, and volunteer he is committed to common-sense, traditional values as the best means to create a province where his daughters and future generations choose to make their homes and thrive.
